SSS Episode 58 Tips for Transitioning to a Premium Service_mixdown.mp3

Brandi Mowles: Have you ever thought that maybe it's time for you to transition from what you're currently doing to a premium service or when you even know you're ready to do that? That's exactly what I'm going to chat about today and this week's episode of the Serve Scale Soar podcast. So let's doive on in.

Welcome to the Serve Scale Soar podcast, the podcast dedicated to helping service-based entrepreneurs scale their online business to five figure months so they can soar into six figure years, your host, Brandi, is a wife, mom and in less than one year created a six figure business. And now she is spilling all her secrets. So you can too.

Brandi Mowles: Hey, y'all, OK, so I'm super excited because we're talking about one of my favorite things and that's talking all about offering a premium service. I am so passionate about everyone offering a premium service at some point. And we're going to talk about exactly when is that point for you. And I have three different ways to know if it's time for you to add that premium service. But before we begin, I want to spotlight one of our listeners. This one is coming from one of my favorite people that is ins ide a Serve Scale Soar Raynell lefter review and said, where is this been all my business life? Can I just say I binged every episode today and I'm so thankful I did. Brandy has given the kind of advice we all need, simple, straight to the point and based in results. I've been wanting to grow my business and could not have figured out how to do it and what I needed to change and for making everything as simple as possible to change my mindset to welcoming in a growing business. She's giving it all and I could not be more thankful for all she's doing. Well, Ronnie, thank you so much for that review and I so, so appreciate it. And if you would like to be one of our spotlight listeners, please go on and leave us an honest review. Honestly, this is one of the best gifts you could give if you're listening week after week, a review means the world to me. So let's jump on in to this week's training. So let's talk about transitioning to a premium service. And before we actually jump in and talk about when and how can you do it, because I'm going to give you the three steps to know when it's right for you. But I want to tell you about my story and when I transitioned to a premium service, and that was in October of two thousand nineteen for months after starting my business, I was overwhelmed, undercharging and way overworked.

Brandi Mowles: I was doing all the things Pinterest, Pinterest ads. I was doing email marketing, Kayemba designs, you name it. I was probably doing it and I knew something had to change. I'd started playing around with Pinterest ads and really liked everything that went into the ads. The creator of the getting behind and seeing analytics in that black and white answer. Is it working? Is it not working? There's a direct ROI to running ads.

Brandi Mowles: And I started listening to some podcast and I found Rick Mulready and he was talking all about ads and I binge that podcast. And I was like, I think I could do this. Well, I knew nothing about buying online courses or anything like that, and I completely bugged them. I was like, what is your course opening? Can I join now? How much is it? Can I just take like, please take my money and let me learn ads. And it wasn't opening until the end of October, so I patiently waited for the doors to open to his ad manager course that he no longer has. But I was like, oh man, I need to get started on this. So I patiently waited and at the end of October, I was the first one to purchase and it was a three thousand dollar course. And I was like, holy cow, this is like a lot of money. But here's what I knew to do. I knew to break down how many clients would it take me to pay this off? And I knew if I started charging nine ninety seven, it would take three clients for me to pay it back.

Brandi Mowles: And I was like, OK, I can do this, I can make that happen. And so what I did is I dropped down from six thousand dollars a month to four thousand dollars months month because I knew I needed some space because at the time I was working way too much, way too many hours. There was no way I could dive into learning a new skill. So I dropped down to four thousand dollars months and things were a little crazy in November and I didn't actually get to dove into the course until December. And so all of December, I spent time learning Facebook ads. And at the end of December, beginning of January, I started marketing myself as a Facebook and Instagram ad strategies. And I was filling all those things like, oh my God, who the heck is going to hire me? Like, I've never ran ads. But after taking the course, I felt really confident that I would get clients results. And so I ended up having a ten thousand month that month. Now, here's the deal. They weren't all ad clients. I still had clients that were from social media and things like that. But I did lean three clients, one at nine ninety seven, one eight, seven ninety seven and one twelve ninety seven. And I paid back my course in one month because I knew what I needed to do. And I was focused on discovery calls and my marketing minutes and I haven't looked back since. I'm still running Facebook and Instagram ads for clients because I found the thing that lit me up and I'm so glad I invested in a course to learn the skills so I can feel confident moving forward. So that's my story of elevating to a premium service. Now I want to tell you how you can help. Your services insert start offering a premium service, I really find that there's three ways that you can go about that in the first way is you've really hit the cap like you know what you're doing.

Brandi Mowles: You probably can't scale it any farther. Maybe. I know we have a member of the mastermind where she had a cap doing Dubsado setups like she really didn't like. She knew she had hit a cap, she had hit a premium price, and she wasn't able to scale her business any further without making some dramatic changes to the structure and things that she didn't really want to do. And so that's where I was. I hit a cap. I was at six thousand. I was capped out because I was charging hourly. I knew I wanted to do of the more I knew I wanted to scale my business, but I just hit that cap. And so when you hit that cap, there's a few different things you can do. But one of them is offer a premium service. Now, if you love what you're doing and you've hit that cap, there's other ways that you can get around that. And we'll talk about that in another episode. But if you're like, I think I want to start offering a premium service, then this is your chance to do it. You're at that cap. Let's pivot your business a little bit and start adding a premium service. So let's say you're running Pinterest, your Pinterest manager. OK, so now maybe you start offering Pinterest and so promoted ads, maybe you are a social media manager and now you want to start offering Facebook ads or maybe you're doing like project management, a little bit of social media. And now you're like, you know what, I would love to be doing podcast management and launches and strategy. And that's what we had my podcast manager do. Stephanie, she was doing a lot of that things, and she loved the project management. She loves all that type of thing. Podcasts, management. Was that premium service. Maybe you're a virtual assistant and you want to go become an OBM. You can start offering a premium service. So if you've hit your cap, maybe it's time to offer a premium service.

Brandi Mowles: Ok, so that's the number one way to know when you're ready to transition to a premium service. The number two way is maybe you're just getting started on the online space. You can skip being a virtual assistant, you can skip all the hourly charging and you can go straight into premium services. Jen Myers has been on the podcast and we'll link up her episode. But Jen came right into the gate and knew she wanted to run Facebook and Instagram ads. And so that's what she did. She didn't come in and do all the things like me and several of us listening.

Brandi Mowles: She went straight into a premium service offering. So maybe you're listening to this and you're like, hey, I want to start an online business, but I just don't know. Like, I don't want to work hourly. I don't want to do social media. Maybe you just don't know what you want to do. But there is a high ticket offering that you think you would be great at. Go for it. You don't need to start off by doing all the things to start offering a premium service like Jen, who has a six figure business. And it's because she came in right off the gate.

Brandi Mowles: She was able to scale so much faster because she came in offering a premium service. I know branding experts who used to do branding and web development in their previous career, like that's what they did. And now they're coming online and now they're charging ten thousand dollars for a branding or website design because they already had that experience. They didn't have to come in and start charging low prices just because you're new to the online space. Same thing with copywriters. I know copywriters who were doing copy and everything before they came into the online space. Now they're coming in as premium service providers and charging four five seven fourteen thousand dollars for their work. So you do not have to start off just being a virtual assistant. You can jump right into premium services.

Brandi Mowles: So if you have a hit, a cap, maybe it's time to switch to a premium, too. You're just getting started. Start with a premium service. Don't start doing all the things, go in on that premium service right off the bat. And the third one is if what you're currently doing does not light you up, pivot, pivot now and pivot fast. Our happiness level should always be the driving force behind what we're doing.

Brandi Mowles: Why in the world would we create an online business where we can choose to do anything that we want to do? We make up our own rules as we go. We can work with any clients, but why in the world would we just have a business that pays us dollars? But we're so unhappy? If that's the type of business you want, just go get a nine to five. That's what most people are doing, a nine to fives. They're just doing what they're told to. Doing it's something for a paycheck, but as entrepreneurs, we have this amazing gift to not only do something that makes us money and pays the bills, but also something that lights us up and gets us excited to do every day. I think that's the power. If you're doing the things that don't light you up, pivot real quick, pivot to a premium service, start charging more, taking on less clients and enjoying the life you have. That's truly what it's all about, is when we offer a premium service, we can charge more, work less and start living the life we want even more.

Brandi Mowles: And that's the joy of offering a premium service, is you're charging more. You don't have to work as much. You don't have to have as many clients. You can hit the 10K months faster because think of this, maybe your social media manager and your charging five hundred dollars a month as the ads manager, the lowest you should ever charge is a thousand. Mosad managers are between the fifteen hundred and two thousand dollar mark. So let's say you're at two thousand because you have some results and social proof to show that's five clients at two thousand dollars. You've hit your ten thousand dollars a month. That's so much easier to get to then charging five hundred dollars per client and having 20 clients. I don't know if that's actually manageable to hit ten thousand dollars a month. So by offering a premium service, you're going to hit your goal so much faster. So if you want to hit those 10 months, the easiest and fastest way to do it is by starting to offer premium service.

Brandi Mowles: So I want to go over those steps one more time for you. It's when is it time to transition to a premium service? One, when you've hit your cap and you just can't take on any more clients, it's time to pivot to if you're just starting out, go all in for a premium service in three. If what you're currently doing isn't lighting you up, pivot and start offering the premium service because you'll end up working less and making more and hitting your revenue goals so much faster. So I would love for you to let me know what premium service interest you send me. A DM over on Instagram at Brandi Mowles. It has changed from branding company to now Brandi Mowles to send me a D.M. But here's a few that I see all the time that are so successful. But remember, all services are scalable. Some are just easier to scale than others. So Facebook and Instagram ads, funnel builds, Copywriters make bank. Oh my goodness. One of my friends is a copywriter. I'm like, dang. And I thought Facebook ad managers made the big bucks, high end web and branding, podcasts management and launches anything that's strategy related. You can charge more for people like strategy. We also have admin related services like OBMs, integrators, project managers that are very specific, like launch project managers, or if you're very specialized in things like Click Up and things like that, you can charge more. The more specialized you get, the more premium that service becomes. And so it's not just for my digital marketers, it is for all services. You just have to find the part that's going to make it a premium service. And remember, the more specialized you get, the more you can charge and the more premium that service becomes. So I love chatting with you about creating a premium service because I truly think it is the easiest way to scale, especially if you want to do that without a team.

Brandi Mowles: And so I would like to invite any of you who are thinking about Facebook and Instagram ads to run for clients to my free training. That's coming up. How to land high quality Facebook and Instagram ad clients. Even if you don't have any experience, the first thing that you have to know before running ads is how to land the client.

Brandi Mowles: And in this three part training, that's exactly what I'm doing. It's going to be live. It's over about 14 days. We space them out so you have enough time to watch all of them. I have amazing resources that I'm sharing with you. And we have a pop up Facebook group that you'll be invited to. So if you go to confident ad manager Dotcom, you can register for the three part training and get invited into the Facebook group. Here's the deal. If you've ever thought maybe you're on Facebook and Instagram ads, this is your chance to find out if it's for you or not. And in this training, I'm going to show you how to land your clients with no experience needed, just like I did January of thousand nineteen and then built a two hundred thousand dollar business with just my services and running Facebook and Instagram ads. So I would love to see you in that training, even if you're. Really not sure if that's for you still come, it's a great training and you can probably take some of the resources and use them towards whatever services you want to offer. So I hope to see you in the training. Remember, go to confident ad manager Dotcom to get registered and we'll kick off in October. So I'm so excited for you to go elevate your services and start offering a premium service. Even if you're not ready quite yet. Hopefully you'll go out and brainstorm and figure out some services you may be interested in because remember, we're never stuck with the service we offer. We can always pivot. So until next week, friends go out, serve your clients, scale your business and soar into that six figure year you deserve.
